Christmas decorations

Hi everyone!

Huh, back again from a very fatiguing weekend! I had to edit and type two different texts. The first one was about Italian literature in the 20th century (about the hermetism and the poetry of Salvatore Quasimodo). The second one dealt with some Italian-Hungarian relations of the county of Veszprém. The first one was easier for me, because I could find a huge amount of sources. But as for the second one…I could type only 2 pages, which aren’t so much :( Anyway, I have one week to finalise it.

On my way to the dorm I saw some Christmas decorations in Pécs. They are very nice, I should say. I really like those little Christmas trees in Árkád and I also think that those are nicer than the last year’s decoration (with that up-and-down climbing Santa, if you remember :) ).

On the other hand these can be very embarrassing, making me anxious for buying presents for Christmas. And as I have already written in one of my posts, I don’t really like buying gifts. The reason is that I don’t know what would a person be happy about, or what would be useful for him/her. I know that it’s only November and we have almost 5 weeks left for X-mas but the intention of these decorations is to pay the people’s attention. I think the decorators should have been waiting for December with these adornments. Although some of them are beautiful, they can make the people’s feelings confused: they seem not to have time for enjoying the beauties of autumn and November, because a few of them starts spending money as soon as having seen the first decorations. I’m not so happy for this phenomenon, because I can see that the Christmas is over commercialised nowadays and the real message of this festivity is trying to disappear. :(

So, I think we have enough time to buy the Christmas presents, but in my opinion we should care about our family members every day, not only during festive seasons ;)
Have a nice week! :)

I agree with you that we have these over-commercialised X-mases these days. That's why I try to avoid going into Árkád.. And while we always have the exam period around X-mas, I just hardly can concentrate on the holiday. It's sad for me, I haven't celebrated this special day for ages! Now, it doesn't mean too much (unfortunately).

you tell me...I always have a hard time with picking gifts. And you know what? people usually enjoy those gifts that I made myself cause those indicate that I was thinking of them:)
but generally I guess a nice book is always a good choice;)
I completely agree with ya..christmas is over-commercialized..that's why I try to finish my gift shopping by the end of November - no wild herds of people chasing sales and meaningless presents trying to knock you out in a shop over a "mega cute dancing Santa" *rolls eyes*
